History:
On May 1, 1947, Singapore Airlines began with the incorporation of MAL (Malayan Airways Limited), by the Ocean Steamship Company of Liverpool, which is the Straits Steamship Company of Singapore and Imperial Airways.
The first flight of Singapore Airlines was made on 2 April 1947, it was a chartered flight from the British Straits Settlement of Singapore to Kuala Lumpur using an Airspeed Consul twin-engined aircraft. After which, regular aircraft and weekly scheduled flights quickly followed from Singapore to Kuala, Ipoh, and Penang. Since then, the airline kept on growing and went public in 1957.
