History:

In 1984, ASE Singapore was founded by two brothers Jason Chang and Richard Chang, these brothers opened the first factory of ASE in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Currently, Jason Chang is serving as the chairman of the company and is also on 2016 Forbes’ list of the world’s billionaires.

As of 1st April 2016, the market cap of ASE Singapore was US$8.77 billion. In May 2015, ASE Singapore formed an agreement with TDK for establishing a joint venture company in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, with the name ASE Embedded Electronics Inc. ASE manufactures the IC embedded substrates utilizing TDK’s SESUB technology. After which, in the following year, on 26 May 2016, ASE and Siliconware Precision Industries (SPIL) announced that they have signed an agreement to form a new holding company, being a part of the consolidation in the global semiconductor industry. Both these companies said that each of them will remain in its legal entities, management, staff, by being on the side of the current independent operations and operating models.
