We grew quickly and by 1978, we were listed on the Stock Exchange of Singapore (now known as SGX) as Singapore Bus Service (1978).

Back in November 2001, Singapore Bus Services Limited had a change in name to SBS Transit Ltd to reflect our brand new bi-modal standing as a bus and railroad operator once we won the license to operate the North East MRT Line. In 2003, SBS Transit became part of the ComfortDelGro Group when Comfort Group and DelGro Corp merged to form ComfortDelGro Corporation, one of the world’s largest land transport companies.

As part of a global, multi-modal transport company, we have been able to leverage the Group’s extensive resources, expertise, and knowledge to bring about greater levels of support and comfort for our Singapore commuters.SBS Transit aims to provide world-class public transport which is secure, comfortable, cheap, reliable, and friendly. Today, we operate more than 200 bus services using a fleet of some 3,000 buses.

In addition, we operate the North East MRT Line, which’s the world’s first completely automated, underground heavy rail system that connects Punggol to HarbourFront, in addition to the Light Rail System in the Punggol and Sengkang new towns.SBS Transit also operates the newest MRT line – the Downtown Line. This 42km Line with 34 stations is the longest underground Line in Singapore. The initial and second stage of Downtown Line started ceremony on 22 December 2013 and 27 December 2015, whilst the next stage started on 21 October 2017.

Singapore Bus Services has been renamed SBS Transit Ltd on 1 November 2001. The name reflects our multi-modal standing as we move from being just a bus owner to the supply of both bus and train services. We’ve kept”SBS” from the new business name to remember our origins and conserve our long heritage. Our company signature is an especially made wordmark. The distinct graphic stroke called the”speed stroke” conveys the dynamism of their organization. The vibrant orange color represents dynamism and innovation. The purple color represents stability, strength, and a firm commitment to our customers. The daring interplay of those two colors signifies that the crossing of boundaries and connecting people, which are the basis of lasting relationships.
