History:

Bison Transport was formed by Duncan M Jessiman, on 28 May 1969, this was the time when he deployed 18 trucks in Winnipeg. In the next year, Bison Transport came up with its first acquisition, the Local Carrier RC Owen Transport. In 1979, Bison Transport acquired the local carrier Echo Transport. In 1981, Bison Transport expanded its business to the United States. In 1991, Bison Transport also moved to the retail sector, with the start of a lasting relationship with Walmart. Bison Transport went to warehousing in 1996 at Winnipeg, developed a satellite for its services in 1999, launched a logistics divisions department in 2001. In 2004, Bison added a refrigerated division which has now grown to 650 reefers. Bison also launched a long combination vehicle fleet which has 220 dedicated tractors to 2019. In 2006, Bison transport moved to intermodal business, owing 53-foot containers. Bison transport then also expanded westwards opening facilities in Regina, Calgary, and Edmonton. In 2014, Bison moved into the flat deck segment, after buying Searcy Transportation in Winnipeg. In 2019, Bison Transportation celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Today, Duncan M Jessiman is the chairman and the sole shareholder of Bison-Canada. Bison Transportation has grown from 18 tractors and 32 employees to around 1400 power units, 4000 trailers which are supported by more than 1600 drivers and other works.
